Dark Rich Brownies, Recipe

Did you know that York has come out with peppermint patty baking bits? Oh yeah, they have.
I made these brownies the other day, just a standard recipe, and added the York things...wow. They were rich beyond believe and tasted like a York peppermint patty. Yummy.

Have you noticed that I have been really good about posting on Apron Strings and Frozen music? Yeah. Yay me.

Anyway..I just realized that I have not posted a recipe for just lain rich, chocolate, no frills brownies anywhere, not here or at Baking Delights...so here ya go. This is good. Slightly under cook for chewiest texture. Cocoa makes the brownies richer.

Rich Dark Brownies

  • 1 1/4 c unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 c hershey's special dark cocoa
  • 2 oz melted bittersweet chocolate, melted
  • 2 c sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tbs mexican vanilla
  • 1 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Mix butter, sugar, cocoa, and chocolate until smooth and shiny. Microwave until the mixture loses it's graininess, about 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Set aside to cool.
Beat eggs until very light. Add vanilla, then chocolate mixture. Add flour and salt.
Mix quickly until blended, pour into a greased 13x9 pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting.
Makes 1 very large brownie. :)
