The Donut Event!
Have you actually gone and looked at Tartlette's blog or Peabody's blog?
They had 100 entried for the Time to Bake the Donuts Event!!
I am thinking that I could go right down the list and eat them all, one by one...
Here is another donut recipe, I did not enter it in the event, but it is good anyway..
Homemade Buttermilk Donuts
2 cups buttermilk
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
5 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
Oil for deep frying
Combine the buttermilk, eggs, and sugar. Set aside.
Mix dry ingredients.
Add the buttermilk mixture to the dry ingredients and stir. Stir in the melted butter or shortening and knead until it forms a soft dough. You made need to chill at this point, especially if your kitchen is hot.
Roll out dough to 1/4 inch on a lightly floured surface . Cut with donut cutter.
Fry the doughnuts on each side for approximately 1 min. in 370 oil, or until golden brown. Drain and finish as desired.
